How do we actually perceive reality and to what extent are the things we observe shaped by ourselves? How much of what we consider real is a direct record and how much is created through our interpretation, emotions and gradually changing memory?
Adéla Vávrová's paintings seem familiar at first glance. They feature buildings, landscapes and human figures and situations that we seem to have glimpsed before. But it is enough to look a little longer and certainty begins to disappear. Shapes dissolve, colors merge and what seemed solid slowly turns into something elusive. Similar to a memory that changes slightly with each new equipment.
Nothing here remains completely stable. Figures lose their features, sometimes merging with space, sometimes emerging from it for only a moment. Places are internal landscapes shaped by memory, emotions and experiences that we carry within ourselves. What we perceive as close and familiar is subtly shifting into uncertainty. Suddenly we are not sure whether we are looking at reality or its fading trace.
It is in this tension that the paintings take place. Between the present and its transformation, between what we see and what we consider to be seen. The exhibition does not tell one closed story, but opens up situations into which everyone can place their own imagination. Someone remembers a specific place, another just a feeling that they cannot clearly name.
Perhaps when looking at the paintings you will realize that memory is not a reliable archive, but a living process. It is constantly rewritten, supplemented and transformed. And what we consider to be real is transformed in the same way.
The exhibition is thus created not only through individual paintings, but also in the imaginations that each of us brings to them. And it is in the space between what is actually depicted and what is subsequently completed by our imagination that the entire exhibition experience takes place.

The starting point for the visual sensitivity to the image is the long-term painting practice of Adéla Vávrová, a contemporary Czech painter working in Prague. In her work, she has long devoted herself to painting as a means of personal expression, in which she connects her own experience with the visual exploration of reality and its variability.
