I am in the picture. That is how I would most accurately describe the concept of automata, in which I reach the deeper layers of the subconscious through the process and the body. I create authentic records of my thoughts.
The first phase is automatic strokes that come and go – I let them be guided by the process without determining the direction in advance. I apply colors intuitively in the same way. In the second phase, I look for communication between shapes and colors, I watch what is born and what offers itself.
The Dadaists believed that true words and images can come from within – from the subconscious and the body. They relied on spontaneity and sudden impulses.
I was inspired by the idea that creation arises precisely where reason gives way to intuition.
Automatic painting, which was later strongly developed by the Surrealists, is for me a path to myself – a process of release, loss of control and knowledge.
When I have too much energy and need to release or calm it down, this is my most effective technique. And it often results in powerful paintings, even if the final form is not the main goal.
